Lyrics
CHORUS (x2)
It's kinda different these days, it's kinda different
It's kinda different these days, it's kinda different
So I take a trip down Memory Lane
And look at all the things that have changed
VERSE #1
I took a stroll down memory lane
To remember the day when things were never this way
Some guy in his mid-teens, he looked about fifteen
Approached me, asked me if I ever kicked frees
We sat busting, just in the moment
Both zoning, not even opponents
He rapped about Hip Hop was changing, and how it kinda hurt
At which point, I found my words, told him it's about to get worse
(what?)
He looked confused, but went back to the ill shit
And I kinda wished there was a way to have filmed it
The skill that this emcee was displaying was crazy
The way he'd say things and make 'em rhyme
You'd try to find the ability inside, but it'd ache your mind
He weren't just in it chasing dimes, he actually believed in this
And it was a shame, cause he was a major rap fan
We clapped hands and parted ways on Memory Lane
CHORUS (x2)
It's kinda different these days, it's kinda different
It's kinda different these days, it's kinda different
So I take a trip down Memory Lane
And look at all the things that have changed
VERSE #2
A little further down memory lane
An adolescent was playing Eminem on a tape
And you could hear it, the speakers were bumping
I jumped in and asked if I could talk about something
This kid must've only been turning thirteen
But still his words were absurd to me
After he turned to speak and opened his mouth
The only things coming out were cuss words and shouting
I said, 'hey buddy, chill, relax'
'I could spit some rhymes that ain't even yet been put onto tracks'
He met me half way, started to say some bars that he made
Afterwards, I started to praise
(man you got some skills there)
He was passionate, and showed potential
I didn't wanna "led him down" like some broken pencils
So I quoted my Dad, and what I remember him saying
Then I took step back up Memory Lane
CHORUS (x2)
It's kinda different these days, it's kinda different
It's kinda different these days, it's kinda different
So I take a trip down Memory Lane
And look at all the things that have changed
VERSE #3
The third scene that I seen after the thirteen year old
Was a computer screen with downloads and music streams
This particular memory is embedded in me
Because I know how the industry changes and music ain't how it used to be
These streets used to be decent to sell your CD's
Now though, companies rely on downloads from PC's
And shit ain't easy
Local stores don't support, so you're forced to upload your thoughts into MP3
But if we really think about it we're cutting our expenses
I just always dreamed of getting my own CD professionally pressed with a barcode registered
The past few years I been on the net, tryna get signed
But I might as well forget that sight of mine
Cause you can keep it lyrical
Fidget all you like, but we're going digital
We're thinking with the emptiest brain
So I'd rather dwell and stay down Memory Lane.. ayy..
CHORUS (x2)
It's kinda different these days, it's kinda different
It's kinda different these days, it's kinda different
So I take a trip down Memory Lane
And look at all the things that have changed
It's different...
It's kinda different these days, it's kinda different
It's kinda different these days, it's kinda different
Ha
It's kinda different these days, it's kinda different
It's kinda different these days, it's kinda different
Remember that!
